Château Bellefont-Belcier

The Bellefont-Belcier estate is situated on Saint-Emilion’s south-facing slopes, neighbouring Château Pavie, Château Larcis-Ducasse and Château Tertre Roteboeuf.

It was first belonged to a very powerful Bordeaux family at the end of the 18th century, when the Count Louis-François de Belcier founded the vineyard. At the beginning of the 19th century, he built the Château which he named Bellefont, which means ‘beautiful fountain’, referring to the numerous spring water hidden on the hillside into which the vines plunge their roots.
